Friday June 9 - Animal Adventures: Animal Builders


  • Registration is required www.zionsvillelibrary.org
  • When: 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
  • Ages: 3 and up with an adult
  • Where: Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library and Zion Nature Center

Naturalists from the Zion Nature Center will join Librarians as they share their knowledge about local animals through read-aloud stories, rhymes, and activities. Meet at the Library for storytime fun, and then walk to the Nature Center to meet and learn about the real animals that live there.


Saturday, June 10 - Campfire and Night Hike

  • When: 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center

Enjoy an evening hike through the Zion Nature Sanctuary. Explore the sights and sounds of the evening forest. We will end the evening toasting marshmallows.

Sunday, June 11 - Nature I Spy

  • When: 12:00 - 4:00 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center
Explore nature in Zionsville with this family friendly scavenger hunt. Pick up your clue card at the Zion Nature Center. Finish the hunt to claim a prize.


Wednesday, June 14 - Creekstomp


  • Registration is required via email
  • When: 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
  • Ages: 4 - 12 years with an adult
  • Where: Creekside Nature Park, 11001 E. Sycamore Street
Join us as we explore Eagle Creek and search for who lives in the water. Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet. Nets and buckets are provided. Registration is required.

Thursday, June 15 - Teddy Bear Picnic


  • Registration is required by June 14 via email
  • When: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
  • Ages: 2 - 6 years with an adult
  • Where: Lincoln Park, 41 S. 2nd Street
Grab your favorite stuffed friend and your lunch and join us on the grass for a picnic. After lunch we’re going on a bear hunt!

  • When: 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center
Explore what flies, crawls and hops in the wetland. Wear clothes that can get muddy and wet. Nets and buckets are provided.


Saturday, June 17 - Sss…Snake Hunters!


  • Registration is required via email
  • When: 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
  • Ages: 6 - 12 years with an adult
  • Where: Starkey Nature Park, 667 Sugarbush Drive
What snake species live in Zionsville? Let’s find out! Participants will help check snake boards in Starkey Park.

Saturday, June 17 - Starkey Park Project


  • When: 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
  • Where: Starkey Nature Park, 667 Sugarbush Drive
Observations are being collected with iNaturalist throughout 2017 to help Zionsville Parks and Recreation have a better understanding of the species and habitats that thrive within Starkey Park. Bring your smart phone or camera and join Park Naturalist Mindy Murdock as she explores the seasonal changes in the park.
