October Programs

Saturday, October 8 - Seed Bombs

  • Registration is required via email
  • When: 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center
Join the Zion Nature Center as we explore native wildflowers and seeds. Dress to get a little dirty, as we make fun seed balls using native seeds and soil.  Once they’re dry, simply throw them anywhere in your yard that you’d like to see native wildflowers next spring. Registration required as space is limited.

Wednesday, October 12 - Fall Warbler ID Workshop

  • Registration is required via email
  • When: 7 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center
  • Second session is on Saturday, October 15 at Starkey Park, 667 Sugarbush Dr.
  • Fee: $25

Although most birders prefer to see warblers in their beautiful breeding plumage each spring, the fall is a great time to see these little jewels as well. Fall migration lasts longer than spring migration and in general, there are more individual birds to see. But sometimes these warblers’ fall plumage makes them difficult to identify. Join local birding expert and Amos Butler Audubon Society president Rob Ripma in a two-part workshop to learn what you need to know to identify migrant warblers this fall.
