 Here's a chance for you and your dog to get out and explore the Zionsville Parks this fall. Tails on the Trails is free. Join us for weekly dog walks throughout the event, September 1 - October 31.
 
 

Saturday, September 1 - Autumn Wildflowers


 
  • When: 1 - 3 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech Street
 The meadows and fields around Zionsville are bursting with autumn color. Learn some of our common fall wildflowers, and why they are important to wildlife with a presentation by Park Naturalist Mindy Murdock. They we'll travel outside to search for what's blooming. Bring your camera to capture the beauty of Zion Nature Sanctuary in autumn.
 
 

Friday, September 7 - Mommy & Me: Squirrels


 
  • Registration Required
  • When: 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech Street
  • Ages: 1 - 3 years with an adult
 Give your toddler a fun and interactive introduction to nature in our Mommy & Me classes! Each month we will focus on a different topic and will feature live animal encounters, stories, crafts and nature exploration. Due to school being in session, parking is not available at the Zion Nature Center. We will meet at the elementary school gates at 9:30 a.m. and walk to the Nature Center together.

Friday, September 14 - Fall Campfire

  • When:7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech Street

Autumn is here! Expore how nature is preparing for the changing season with an evening hike through Zion Nature Sanctuary. We'll end the evening roasting marshmallows at the Nature Center campfire.

Saturday, September 15 - Monarch Migration

Monarch butterflies are celebrated for their miraculous 2,000 mile journey to Mexico each year. Drop in at Elm Street Green to learn more about this incredible small but mighty insect. Do you have what it takes to complete a monarch migration? Insect nets will be available to explore the meadow.

Friday, September 21 - Animal Adventures: Fish

  • Register at www.zionsvillelibrary.org
  • When: 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
  • Where: Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library, 205 N. 5th Street and Zion Nature Center
  • Ages: 3 - 6 years with an adult

Meet at the library for story time fun. Afterwards, we will walk to the Zion Nature Center to explore and get a little wet learning about fish.

Saturday, September 22 - Nature Photography Workshop

Learn to capture the beauty of fall in photographs! Join Naturalist and photographer Jackie Curts for a workshop on Nature Photography. This workshop is designed to develop your creative and technical skills. You will learn about composition, lighting, depth of field, creative blur, and much more. The workshop will consist of classroom time to learn to see through new eyes and a hands-on session to practice your new skills with the instructor's guidance.
