Saturday, September 1 - Tails on the Trails Group Dog Walk

Here’s a chance for you and your dog to get out and stay active this fall. Registration for Tails on the Trails is free. Join us for weekly dog walks throughout the event, September 1 – October 31.


Friday, September 15 - Animal Adventures: Bees


  • Registration is required www.zionsvillelibrary.org
  • When: 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
  • Ages: 3 and up with an adult
  • Where: Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library and Zion Nature Center

Meet at the Library for story time fun. Afterwards, we will walk to the Zion Nature Center to discover honey bees. Did you know September is National Honey Month?

Tuesday, September 19 - Fall Color From Native Plantings

  • Registration is CLOSED
  • When: 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center
Join us at Zion Nature Center to learn how to make your garden preform multiple tasks. Myrene Brown will take you through a pictorial slide show of several wonderful native plants capable of adding to the fall show in your landscape. Native pollinators primarily use native plants to sustain them. With the addition of native plants to enhance your garden’s fall color you also provide for the wildlife and pollinators that share our space while creating a beautiful fall landscape to delight your eyes. After seeing the photos of native plants in their fall glory they may be hard to resist. Registration is FULL


Thursday, September 21 - Tails on the Trails Group Dog Walk

  • Where: Turkey Foot Nature Park, 4795 Turkeyfoot Ave.

Saturday, September 23 - Fall Wildflower Walk


  • When: 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
  • Where: Starkey Park, 667 Sugarbush Drive
The meadows and fields around Zionsville are bursting with autumn color. Learn why fall wildflowers are important to wildlife. Bring your camera to capture the beauty of Starkey Nature Park in autumn. We will be collecting information for Starkey Park's iNaturalist Project.

Saturday, September 30 - Monarch Migration


  • When: 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
  • Where: Elm Street Green, 165 Elm Street
Monarch butterflies are celebrated for their miraculous 2,000 mile journey to Mexico each year. Drop in at Elm Street Green to learn more about this incredible small but mighty insect. Do you have what it takes to complete a monarch migration? Insect nets will be available to explore the meadow.
