Spring Break Nature Kit

Are you sticking close to home for spring break this year and looking for some fun activities? Pickup one of our Spring Break Nature Kits! Each kit is packed full of hands-on activities for kids to learn and explore nature and science. Registration also includes access to an instructional video from one of our Naturalists which will guide kids through each activity.

  • Cost: $20/kit. Each kit has supplies for one child

Wednesday, March 17 - Toddler Trek

Spending time outdoors has numerous benefits for a child’s physical and emotional well-being. During our Toddler Treks, Join a Naturalist from the Zionsville Nature Center to play, explore, and watch the seasons change throughout our Zionsville Parks. Toddler Trek is rain or shine, with the exception of severe weather. Dress for the weather and be prepared to get moving!

Thursday, March 18 - Morning Bird Walk

Start your morning with a hike to spot birds! Join a Naturalist for a hike to see who’s fluttering around the park. All levels of birding experience welcome. Bring binoculars if you have them. We will have a few available to borrow.

Saturday, March 27 - Signs of Spring Nature Walk

Early spring is a great time to get out for a walk in the park! Join a Naturalist for a casual hike through Starkey Park to explore and look for blooming flowers, birds singing, and maybe even frogs calling!

Saturday, March 27 - Girl Scout Saturday

Calling all Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors! This Girl Scout Day is for you! Join our Naturalists to help you learn about animals, plants, and the outdoors through hands-on activity stations. We will cover several activities that will help you towards your STEM and Outdoors badge goals. Some activities are self-led, while others will be guided by our staff. Bring your own troop or come on your own.

Nature 101: Spring Wildflowers

Do you want to learn more about Natural History Topics? Check out our Monthly Nature 101 Workshop Series. Each month Naturalists from Zionsville Nature Center or guest speakers will present on a variety of nature topics. 

Want to learn about our native spring wildflowers but don’t know where to start? Join our Park Naturalists for an introductory class that covers our common spring ephemerals, field guide use, and how to use identification apps like iNaturalist. This program features an evening webinar with an optional Saturday field day to practice what you’ve learned.
