Thursday, May 3 - Containers from the Ground Up

May is a great month to fill window boxes and containers with plants to enhance your garden. Join Myrene Brown, owner of Myrene’s Garden, for a visual presentation on “Containers from the Ground Up”. We will cover container selection, placement, design, and maintenance. I will pass on tips of container set up to allow you to water your containers once per week or less.

Friday, May 4 - Animal Adventures: Animal Babies

  • Where: Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library
  • Ages: Ages: 3 – 6 years with an adult
Meet at the Library for story time fun. Afterwards, we will walk to the Zion Nature Center to explore animals and their babies.

Saturday, May 12 - Family FUN Ride

  • When: 9 a.m. Bicycle Safety Check, 10 a.m. Family FUN Ride
  • Where: Elm Street Green, 165 N. Elm Street

Join the Zionsville Parks and Recreation Department and Nebo Ridge Bicycles for our annual Bicycle Family Fun Ride at Elm Street Green.
The day will include:
9 a.m. Bicycle Safety Check – A Certified Bicycle Mechanic will be on hand to inspect your bike and make sure you are ready for a summer of riding.
10 a.m. Family Fun Ride – A 7 mile loop through the parks and trails in Zionsville. There is an optional 3 mile extension to Heritage Trail Park.

Saturday, May 12 - Mother’s Day Card Paper Making

Learn the process of making your own paper. Then create a unique card just in time for Mother’s Day. We’ll even try our hand at paper marbling.

Friday, May 18 - Mommy & Me: Worms

Give your toddler a fun and interactive introduction to nature in our Mommy & Me classes! Each month we will focus on a different topic and will feature live animal encounters, stories, crafts and nature exploration. Due to school being in session, parking is not available at the Zion Nature Center. We will meet at the elementary school gates at 9:30 a.m. and walk to the Nature Center together.

Saturday, May 19 - Monthly Dog Walk

  • When: 10 - 11 a.m.
  • Where: Turkeyfoot Park, 4795 Turkey Foot Rd

Enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the forest during our monthly dog walk. Summer is just around the corner.
