Wednesday, May 8 - Attracting Beneficial Insects

Not all insects are pests! Ninety percent of the insects we encounter in the garden are either benign or beneficial. From pollinators to predators learn how to identify common beneficial insects. Discover ways to create a backyard habitat that discourages pests while attracting beneficial insects to your garden. Registration is required as space is limited.

Saturday, May 11 - Monthly Dog Walk

  • When: 10 – 11 a.m.
  • Where: Zionsville Town Hall, 1100 W. Oak Street

Grab your favorite cup of morning coffee and meet in the Zionsville Town Hall Parking lot. We’ll enjoy a brisk walk along the Big-4 Rail Trail that will leave us energized to tackle the rest of our day.

Saturday, May 11 - A Gardener’s Most Helpful Tools

Spend the afternoon at Elm Street Green with Zion Nature Center exploring the tools and equipment that are “must haves” in the garden! Whether you’re new to gardening and can’t tell a garden trowel from a hand cultivator, or you’re a gardening guru that enjoys learning more about the tricks and tools of the trade, everyone will enjoy this educational class.


Friday, May 24 - Mommy & Me: Animal Babies

  • Register beginning May 1
  • When: 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech Street
  • Ages: 1 – 3 years with an adult

Give your toddler a fun and interactive introduction to nature in our Mommy & Me classes! Each month we will focus on a different topic and will feature live animal encounters, stories, crafts and nature exploration. Due to school being in session, parking is not available at the Zion Nature Center. We will meet at the elementary school gates at 9:30 a.m. and walk to the Nature Center together.


Friday, May 31 - Animal Adventures: Jumping Animals

Meet at the Library for story time fun. Afterwards, we will walk to the Zion Nature Center to explore how high and far animals can jump!
