Wednesday, October 2 - Growing Up WILD, Getting Little Feet WET Workshop

Developed specifically for teachers working with young children (ages 3- 7), Getting Little Feet WET and Growing Up WILD are early childhood education programs that build on children’s sense of wonder about nature and invites them to explore the world around them. Each curriculum guide (participants receive both) contains interactive, hands-on activities for young learners to explore. Each guide includes outdoor explorations, scientific inquiry, art projects, music and movement, reading and math connections, and much more.

Saturday, October 5 - Tails on the Trails Group Dog Walk 

  • When: 10 a.m.
  • Where: Turkey Foot Nature Park, 4795 Turkeyfoot Avenue

Here’s a chance for you and your dog to get out and explore the Zionsville Parks this fall. Registration for Tails on the Trails is free. Visit www.zionsville-in.gov/tailsonthetrails for more information and to register. Join us for weekly dog walks throughout the event, September 1 – October 31.

Tuesday, October 15 - Nature Faces

  • When: 10 – 11 a.m.
  • Where: Turkey Foot Nature Park, 4795 Turkeyfoot Avenue

Join the Nature Center staff on a nature hike through the park. We’ll explore and collect items along the way. Then let your imagination soar as you create your unique nature portrait.

Friday, October 18 - Zion Nature Center OPEN

  • When: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech Street

Friday, October 18 - Creature Feature: Snakes

  • When:  1 – 3 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech Street

Stop in anytime from 1 – 3 p.m. for a chance to meet our corn snake and hognose snake up close. Enjoy a snake themed craft and refreshments. What a great way to ask questions and discover what makes these animals so amazing!

Saturday, October 19 - Leaf Prints

Join us as we explore the forest in fall and discover some of the trees and leaves in the park. We’ll create unique leaf print artwork after our walk back at the Zion Nature Center.

Friday, October 25 - Mommy & Me: Bats

Give your toddler a fun and interactive introduction to nature in our Mommy & Me classes! Each month we will focus on a different topic and will feature live animal encounters, stories, crafts and nature exploration.

Saturday, October 26 - Trick or Trees

Join the Zion Nature Center for this family friendly Halloween event. Explore the forest in fall and collect treats along the way on our trick-or-treat trail. Come dressed in your favorite family friendly costume. Enjoy apple cider and roasting marshmallows by the campfire, fun fall activities, opportunities to meet some of the nature center animals, and more!

Tuesday, October 30 - Halloween Dog Walk

  • When: 6 p.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech Street

Dress yourself and your pooch up for this fun group dog walk through the Zion Nature Sanctuary. This walk also counts as a group walk for Tails on the Trails. Then enjoy a tasty treat, for both dogs and people, after our hike through the woods.
