UPDATE 8/3/17: The Pop Up Farmers Market hours have changed to 4 - 7 p.m. (instead of 5 - 7 p.m.) on Wednesdays.
Farm fresh eggs, local honey, Indiana sweet corn and heirloom tomatoes are just some of the fresh produce available at the Zionsville Pop Up Farmers Market on Wednesday nights in the Boone Village parking lot. The market will be open on Wednesdays from 5 – 8 p.m. through the end of September (note: start and end times may be slightly modified based on feedback from shoppers).
Produce from farmer Albert Lewis will also be for sale daily from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
With support from Mayor and the Town of Zionsville, Leigh Ann Akard and her father Steve Akard, owners of Akard True Value Hardware, helped launch the market. After Marsh closed in Boone Village, the Akards wanted to provide an opportunity for Zionsville residents to still conveniently get fresh produce and food staples.
Along with the local merchants, Akard plans to offer music and other activities – including a fall Touch a Truck event with the Town this fall – to enhance the community feel of the market.
“We have already received a lot of great feedback from the community,” said Leigh Ann. “With a number of local farmers and vendors participating, the market is helping expand the reach of local products.”
While the Pop Up Farmers Market and daily produce stand are open, the Town encourages visitors to shop at the local Boone Village merchants and support the flow of business into Boone Village during a time when the Marsh space remains vacant.
“Many of these businesses are members of the Zionsville Chamber of Commerce and support the town through their membership,” said Mayor Haak. “The Pop Up Market is just another reason to visit Boone Village and is something that benefits everyone – the residents and the merchants alike,” said Mayor Haak.
