The Town of Zionsville’s Planning & Economic Development Department and Information Technology Department announce new hires. Roger Kilmer has been hired as Planner I – Economic Development and Bill Peeples has been hired as Planner I – Zoning. In the Information Technology Department, Patrick Taylor has been hired as the IT Director.
All positions have been part of the Town’s strategic plan for 18+ months to address and expand growth needs within each department.
“After an extensive search, we are thrilled to have Roger and Bill join our staff,” said Mayor Tim Haak. “Together they bring over 50 years of economic development and planning experience that will allow the Town to better serve the residents and business owners.”
“In addition, Pat brings an impressive background with him from Zionsville Community Schools and the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. His IT knowledge will greatly benefit the Town as he works with all departments, including Zionsville Police Department and Zionsville Fire Department.”
As Planner I – Economic Development, Kilmer assists the department with economic development functions as well as typical planning and zoning functionality. This includes coordination of responses to inquiries regarding site selection, project pursuits, prospects and incentives, assisting with the preparation of studies and reports and developing recommendations associated with new non-residential projects proposed within the Town.
As Planner I – Zoning, Peeples reviews requests associated with sign permits and encroachment agreements and status of properties and improvements to ensure compliance. His role also includes site visits and inspections and processing Road Impact Fee calculation requests.
“Our nationwide search to fill these two positions commenced nearly a year ago in an effort to identify the best candidate to serve the community in the respective position,” said Wayne DeLong, Director of Planning & Economic Development. “After three rounds of interviews, the Town, based on the depth and breadth of each individual’s unique background and experiences, is incredibly fortunate to secure the services of both Bill and Roger. I could not be more pleased with the outcome for the Town.”
In the Information Technology Department, Taylor has been hired to expand technology capabilities within the Town, including leadership and long-term planning, as well as organizing, controlling and managing technology resources and operations.
