    Tails on the Trails is an opportunity for you and your dog to get out and explore the Zionsville Parks this fall. Each walk your dog completes earns a chance to win one of our weekly wag bag drawings. Complete 6 of the 8 walks to finish the spree and win a prize. Look for weekly Tails on the Trails Tips on Facebook. Be sure to share your experience on social medial #tailsonthetrails Zionsville Parks supports the Yellow Dog Project. If you see a dog with a yellow ribbon, remember to give them space.

  3. Zionsville Gateway Area Listening Session

    October 1, 2020, 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds - Farm Bureau Community Building

    In late July, the Town of Zionsville began the first stage of the Zionsville Gateway Area (ZGA) plan with the demolition of the PNC bank building and locksmith shop at the northwest corner of Main and Sycamore Streets. The next step includes engaging the community during a ZGA Listening Session taking place open house style on Thursday, October 1 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds. The Listening Session will be limited to a certain number of volunteers due to social distancing guidelines. Volunteers participating in the session must sign up for a time slot in advance at https://zionsvillegateway.eventbrite.com. Volunteers must wear a mask during the session, maintain social distancing and utilize the hand sanitizer stations. The in-person process will take each person about 40 – 50 minutes to complete. For those unable to attend the session in-person and for those who prefer to participate online, the Listening Session will be available in its entirety virtually.

    The Community Conversations series will bring the community together to examine and discuss implicit bias, systematic racism and racial justice. Mayor Emily Styron, Chief Spears and Dr. Abbie Robinson-Armstrong will join and facilitate discussions. Robinson-Armstrong is a Zionsville resident and former Vice President for Intercultural Affairs and Professor at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA. Participants can expect a virtual presentation followed by a short question and answer session. There will also be weekly readings on the topics sent to the group and short pre- and post-session homework to set the stage for discussion. Those interested in participating can contact Detective Elizabeth Frost at efrost@zionsville-in.gov.

    Meet other experienced and beginner native plant gardeners for our first ever Zionsville Parks Native Seed Swap. Saving seed to propagate your own plants is a rewarding way to expand your native plant garden and share your favorites with friends. We’ll also discuss the tricks of winter sowing with cold stratification to grow your own plants outside in recycled plastic containers. Collected seed must be a native Indiana wildflower species, the plant you collected from was not treated with any herbicide or pesticide, and the seed was collected from your own yard or you had permission from the land owner to collect. Please do not collect from our parks. Registration is required. Please, only one registrant per household as space is limited. Registrants will be sent more information on how to collect and prepare their seed for the swap. Ages: Adults

    Come dressed in your favorite family friendly costume and explore the forest in fall along our not-so-spooky Trick or Trees trail. Then warm up by the campfire as you grab a treat to take home. To keep our visitors and staff healthy: • Registration is required for ALL FAMILY MEMBERS over the age of 2 years • Masks will be required for 3 years and older • No strollers or wagons • The Nature Center will be closed during the program to allow for social distancing • This year candy will not be provided along the Trick or Treat Trail, but grab a treat to take home when you complete the trail • Registration is timed to allow spacing. Please only sign up for one registration time.
