  1. Step into Spring Walking Spree

    Enjoy your Zionsville Parks on flat, easy trails — good for strollers, wheelchairs, walkers, and canes. This inclusive walking spree has no required mileage amount so anyone can participate. You walk what you are able, though mileage will be posted at an eighth, ¼ and ½ mile if you have set personal goals. Those who finish 6 trails (same trail or different trails) claim a prize and are entered into the Step into Spring drawing. Group walking programs lead by Zionsville Parks and Recreation will run in conjunction with the walking spree as well as wellness tips will be posted on the Zionsville Parks and Recreation Facebook page throughout the event. To Participate: • Register online • Download your participant form • Complete six walks in the designated time frame • Update your form as you walk • Mail or email your completed form to receive prize.

    Start your morning with a hike to spot birds! Join a Naturalist for a hike to see who’s fluttering around. All levels of birding experience welcome. Bring binoculars if you have them. We will have a few available to borrow. Ages: 12 & Up

  3. Brickyard Solar Open House

    April 15, 2021, 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds - Witham Pavilion Exhibit Hall

    To learn more about the Brickyard Solar Project, residents are invited to an open house. Stop in, meet the team, have your questions answered by subject matter experts and learn more. This open house is organized by the Boone County Area Plan Commission. COVID-19 protocols for social distancing and mask requirements will be adhered to during the duration of the open house.

  4. Pull for Parks Garlic Mustard Removal

    The Zionsville Parks and Recreation Department provides drop-in service opportunities for community members. If a volunteer is under the age of 16, they must be accompanied by an adult parent or guardian. These events generally last 2-3 hours and are the perfect opportunity to spend some time giving back or fulfilling a service hour requirement.     Hosted by Carmel and Zionsville Police Departments, Boone County Sheriff's Office and WISH TV. $5 requested donation per shredding box, $20 fee for all TV and computer monitors.

    Compost is what you get when yard debris, kitchen scraps, grass clippings and other organic materials break down into a rich, dark, crumbly material. Recycling food and other organic waste into compost provides a range of environmental benefits, including improving soil health, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and recycling nutrients. Join the Zionsville Parks and Recreation for an evening discussion on the benefits of compost, the different types of compost systems, and how you can begin composting at home.
