Run Type: Water Rescue
Incident Date: 2/28/2011
Run Location: Ford Road & 96th Street

Run Information:

Zionsville Fire Department was dispatched to the above location via 911 for a vehicle in the water with 2 females trapped inside.  On arrival found two femailes trapped in the vehicle approximately 100 feet from dry land.  Rescue 91 crew was hooked to a safety lilne and two rescuers made there way through the swift water to the fehicle.  Patients were placed in a personal flotation device and were moved to dry land one at a time due to the heavy current. 

Run Type: Structure Fire
Incident Date: 12/07/2010
Run Location: 7901 Royal Avenue

Run Information:

ZFD was dispatched to the above location on a report of a Structure Fire.  Car 7701 and a Boone Country Sheriff deputy arrived on the scene and reported heavy smoke and fire through the roof. Engine 91 arrived and established a secure water source form Indianapolis Road and Circle Drive. The bulk of the fire appeared to be located all around the chimney and mainly in the back corner of the house.  A water supply was established to E-93 by both tanker 91 and tanker 83 this giving E93 over 6000 gallons of a secondary water source. No one was home at the time of the fire and all occupants were accounted for. Attack crew advanced a 1″ ¾ cross lay hand line to the area of the fire and began extinguishing along with E-93′s crew.   The bulk of the fire was determined to be mainly in the attic area so crew began pulling ceilings from the living room heading east or towards the B side of the structure towards the kitchen and bedrooms trying to stop the fire from spreading to other parts of the attic.  Several personal belongings were salvaged and other areas were trapped to protect belongings. All area’s that had been involved with fire were covered with cold fire and all hot spots had been extinguished.  Crews were released by command as they became available.

Incident Date: 10/30/2010
Run Location: 6552 Hunters Ridge South Drive

Run Information:

On October 30, 2010 Zionsville Fire Department was dispatched via 911 to a structure fire located at 6552 Hunters Ridge South Drive in Zionsville at 04:40.  Dispatch advised the neighbors could see flames and smoke coming from the upstairs.  Engine 91 and Medic 91 both responded emergent from Station 91.  Engine 92 and Medic 92 both responded emergent from Station 92. Dispatch advised that no one was in the home and evacuation was complete. Engine 91 requested a mutual aid engine from Whitestown fire department and an engine from Perry fire department.  Car 9902 responded emergent from home with one. Carr 9902 requested additional mutual aid – a Ladder from Pike township fire department and an engine from Brownsburg. At 0446 while still in route engine 91 reports that they could see heavy smoke and a large orange glow from State road 334 and the area of the Stone Gate subdivision. Engine 91 arrived to find a two story house with heavy fire and smoke coming from the second story of the home. Crews were met by two nearby neighbors using a garden hose to spray water onto the home. Crews found heavy heat and smoke on the second floor. Crews advanced into the fire room and brought the fire under control. Additional crews from E71 and E92 and Medic 92 entered the home to start pulling ceilings and looking for additional fire.  Crews worked on heavy salvage to insure the fire and all hot spots were out. Class A foam was applied at the end of the operation to insure no hot spots were missed. Crews marked in services as they became available. 

Run Type: Building Fire
Incident Date: 12/14/2008
Run Location: Taylor Oil Company

Run Information:

Zionsville Fire Department was dispatched to Taylor Oil Company, 10702 Zionsville Rd, on a warehouse on fire.  Engine 92 arrived to find a warehouse with heavy fire coming from the east end and approximately 50 percent involved.  Car 9901 arrived and assumed command and requested Marion and Hamilton County Hazmat teams respond with Foam.  Command also contacted Zionsville Street Department for backhoe and operator as well as two additional contractors to respond with equipment and operators. Extinguishment efforts were not attempted at this time due to lack of water supply and danger of hazardous run-off from water during extinguishment. Several large explosions noted during this period with debris falling from sky, appear to be 55 gallon drums and propane tanks.  Crews notified to operate from safe distance.  Building owner supplied building information to command, building 140′ by 50′ containing 6000-8000 gallons of petroleum products of various types, most if not all in storage positions with containment system which appear  to be holding burning product and preventing it from spreading to nearby larger warehouse with significantly larger quantities of product.  Building also houses semi tractor and tank trailer which is reported to be empty, backhoe and fort lift. BC EMA and Health Departments assigned to monitor air quality in downtown Zionsville as wind was blowing to the North/Northeast.  Exposure crews reporting burning flammable liquid streams coming from building and they were using foam and dry chemical extinguishers to contain ad prevent spread as well as digging containment dikes to prevent spread.  First Back hoe arrived and assigned to operations sector.  Fire was contained and controlled with 3 foam lines; all run off was routed through containment ditches and dikes to large containment pond.  Site released to owner and IDEM and spill contractor for clean up.

Run Type: Building Fire
Incident Date: 01/09/2007
Run Location: The Reserve at Williams Glen Location

Run Information:

On November 17th, 2006 Zionsville Fire Department was dispatched to The Reserve at Williams Glen Apartments on a reported apartment fire. ZFD immediately responded Bat 91, Engine 91, Ladder 91, and Tactical 91 as crews were on station from earlier fire in Union Township. Mutual aid from Carmel, and Pike Township was requested. Squad 91 arrived within 4 mins of dispatch and reported heavy fire and smoke showing from the rear of the apartment bldg (Bldg # 13). Sq 91 and ZPD units checked to ensure all occupants were out of building. ZPD units confirmed all persons out of building and accounted for. Zionsville Fire Department stayed on scene until 4:00am the following day extinguishing the fire. The cause of the blaze was undertermined, but foul play was ruled out.

Run Type: Motor Vehicle Accident

Run Location: US 421 and CR 500 SouthLocation

Run Information:

Zionsville Fire Department was dispatched to US 421 and CR 500s for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment on September 18th, 2006 at approimately 2:00 in the afternoon. Upon arrival Battalion 91 and Engine 92 found a large log truck lying on its side. Battalion 91 advised this was a single vehicle accident with one patient and confirmed entrapment. Engine 92 arrived and was assigned to Extrication and stabalization. Medic 1 arrived with Engine 92 and established patient care. Carmel Engine 42 was in the area and arrived to assist ZFD crews. Engine 42 was assigned to a protection line and assisted with patient care. Tac 91 arrived and also assisted with stablization. Vehicle was stabalized and patient was extricated through the front window. Patient was transported to Methodist Hospital.
