Teen Academy

The Zionsville Police Department is again teaming up with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Zionsville to reach out to the teens of Zionsville.  The 4th Annual Zionsville Police Department Teen Academy will be held June 11th through June 15th.  The students will attend classroom training followed by practical hands on skills to reinforce the lesson of the day and have the opportunity to interact with several police officers.  Each day will conclude with a social activity for students and officers.

The purpose of the academy is to allow teens to better understand police officers and to strengthen the relationship between the police department and the community.  Officers will teach blocks of instruction on various topics such as traffic stops, internet usage, identity theft, alcohol use, special response team, character development, use of K-9’s, defensive tactics, firearms training (simulated), physical training, building searches, team building exercises, ZPD tour and a jail tour.  Students will have classroom instruction as well as practical “role play” training.  The academy will conclude on June 15th with a graduation dinner where certificates will be presented to the participants.

For more information or to enroll in the Teen Academy, contact the Zionsville Police Department at 317-873-5967.
