Initial Appearance Court Dates:

Court sessions are held once per month for initial appearances. The initial appearance hearing Court sessions are always held on Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm. The date is listed on the traffic citation.

Please note: The date listed on your ticket is your initial hearing, not a trial date. If you wish to plead not guilty, you must appear for your scheduled initial hearing. This is your initial appearance, the officer is NOT required to be present at this hearing and charges will NOT be dropped if the officer is not present at initial hearing. A trial date will be assigned for the officer’s appearance at a later date.

If your ticket is not paid on or before the court date listed on your ticket, you must appear in court on that date.

If you wish to request a continuance of your court date, you must contact the Court Clerk at 317‐873‐8240 before your scheduled court date.

Trials:
If you wish to deny the charges against you, you must appear in court on the initial appearance date listed on your ticket. A trial date will be set for you at that time. Trial court sessions are held one Thursday per month beginning at 7:00 pm after the evening’s initial hearings.
