Services

Services the department provides to the 70 square mile community include:

  • Review of Plan Commission filings (Subdivision Plat, Development Plans, Vacation of Plats)
  • Review of Board of Zoning Appeals filings (Variance of Use, Variance of Development Standards, Special Exceptions)
  • Review of Improvement Location Permits/Building Permits
  • Review of Sign Permits
  • Review of easement encroachment requests
  • Assignment of Addresses
  • Enforcement of Building, Town and Zoning Code requirements and interpretations thereof
  • Serve as staff to the Board of Zoning Appeals, Economic Development Commission, Redevelopment Commission, Plan Commission and Zionsville Architectural Review Committee 
  • Function as the Building Commissioner 

Comprehensive Plan Update

Zionsville has begun the process of updating the Comprehensive Plan. In the coming months the town will be hosting several in-person and online engagement opportunities asking Zionsville residents, businesses, and visitors to provide input and help guide land use, transportation, and economic development strategies.
