Friday, July 2 - Monthly Bird Walk

  • When: 8:30 - 9:30 am
  • Where: Creekside Nature Park, 11001 E Sycamore (Park at Lions Park near volleyball courts)
  • Ages: 12 & up
  • Registration required

Start your morning with a hike to spot birds! Join a Naturalist for a hike to see who’s fluttering around. All levels of birding experience welcome. Bring binoculars if you have them. We will have a few available to borrow.

Saturday, July 3 - Nature’s Fireworks

While many will spend the holiday weekend enjoying manmade fireworks in the night skies, nature has plenty of it's own beautiful colorful patterns! Join a Naturalist as we explore brightly colored flowers, beautifully patterned butterflies, and brilliant birds.  

Wednesday, July 7 - Toddler Trek

  • When: 10:00 - 11:00 am
  • Where: Elm Street Green, 165 Elm Street
  • Ages: 5 & Under w/ Adult
  • Registration required

Spending time outdoors has numerous benefits for a child’s physical and emotional well-being. During our Toddler Treks, we will meet at different Zionsville parks to play, explore, and watch the seasons change. Toddler Trek is rain or shine (except for severe weather). Dress for the weather and be prepared to get moving!

Saturday, July 10 - Brunch with Snakes

Did you know snakes only eat about once a week? Join us and our snakes as they get their weekly brunch in the Zionsville Nature Center. Learn about their unique adaptations as they eat mice whole. 

Tuesday, July 13th - Nature in Art: Suncatchers

Create your own unique art using natural materials in this exciting art series. Each of our Art in Nature programs start off on an easy hike with a Naturalist to explore one of our parks and to collect materials. Afterwards, create your own masterpiece with different mediums such as leaves, mud, pinecones, and so much more! Join us for this Art in Nature at Mulberry Fields to create beautiful suncatchers from flowers and leaves we find around us. 

Thursday, July 15 - Animal Lunch Time

What does a turtle eat for lunch?  How about a salamander? Join us for this monthly program and get an up-close look at how we feed and care for our resident live animals!

Saturday, July 17 – Your Backyard World

Join us for an exciting afternoon hike, where we will explore the incredible nature in our own little town.  Learn how all living things share this planet we call home.

 Wednesday, July 21 - Camouflage Creatures

In nature, being able to blend in and hide is so important for survival.  Join us to learn how different animals camouflage, go on a hike to look for camouflaging creatures, and play a fun game to test our own camouflage skills.  

Thursday, July 22 - Nature 101: Moths 

Join co-founders of Indiana Nature LLC, Steve Sass and Amanda Smith, for an evening presentation about the amazing adaptions of moths! They will highlight their popular project the, Great American Indiana Nature Lepidoptera Project (GAINLP) and provide tips on moth viewing and information about their importance in the ecosystem. They will also provide connections to resources geared to helping people learn about this fascinating and yet often overlooked insects. 

Saturday, July 24 - Animal Tracks

Animals live all around us, even if we don’t always see them.  By learning animal tracks, you can identify who has been creeping through your yard or down the trail. Join us to learn some common tracks and create your own track craft to take home.  

Tuesday, July 27 Reptiphibian Confusion

What is the difference between a reptile and amphibian? How can we tell them apart? Learn the differences between these two groups of animals and meet a few of the Zionsville Nature Center’s resident reptiles and amphibians!
