Friday, June 1 - Animal Adventures: Animal Songs



  • Register at www.zionsvillelibrary.org
  • When: 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
  • Where: Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library and Zion Nature Center
  • Ages: 3 - 6 years with an adult
Meet at the Library for story time fun. Afterwards, we will walk to the Zion Nature Center to explore animal songs and who makes them.


Saturday, June 9 - Zionsville Nature Play Days: Bike with a Cop



Join the Zionsville Police Department for this 5-mile family friendly bike ride along the Big-4 Rail Trail. Be sure to wear your bicycle safety equipment and pack some water.


Saturday, June 9 - Zionsville Nature Play Days: Campfire and S'mores

Enjoy an evening hike through the Zion Nature Sanctuary as we search for nocturnal sights and sounds. We will end the evening enjoying gooey s’mores around the campfire.

Sunday, June 10 - Zionsville Nature Play Days: Teddy Bear Picnic



Grab your favorite stuffed friend and your lunch and join us for a picnic on the grass. After lunch we’re going on a bear hunt!


Sunday, June 10 - Zionsville Nature Play Days: Family Dog Walk



  • When: 3 - 4 p.m.
  • Where: Big-4 Rail Trail Trailhead, 1100 W. Oak Street
Grab your favorite furry family member and join us on a group dog walk. We’ll explore the sights and sounds along the Big-4 Rail trail. The trail is stroller accessible.


Monday, June 11 - Zionsville Nature Play Days: Bug Safari



  • When: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Where: Elm Street Green, 165 N. Elm Street
Bring your bug net, or borrow one of ours. We’re going on a safari in our backyard. Join us as we search high and low for six and eight-legged creatures.

Zionsville Nature Play Days: Fire Station Kickball


  • When: 1 - 4 p.m.
  • Where: Station 91, 100 N. Ford Road
Join the Zionsville Fire Department crew at Station 91 for a memorable game of kickball! There will be activities for all ages. Come ready for a good time!

Zionsville Nature Play Days: Squirt Gun Painting

  • When:9 - 11 a.m.
  • Where: Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech Street

Create your own artwork with nature and a squirt gun. We recommend you wear clothing that can get stained. Drop-in anytime and create a one-of-a-kind piece of art.

Zionsville Nature Play Days: Creekstomp

House

You’re invited to the Farmstead for a tour and children’s crafts and activities that help you explore and discover what it was like on a 1930s Depression Era Farmstead.

Zionsville Nature Play Days: Dad & Me Story Hike

Celebrate Father’s Day with a walk in the park! Meet at the Library for stories, and then head over to the Nature Sanctuary for a nice long story walk. Dress for the weather. Moms are welcome, too.

Zionsville Nature Play Days: Fantastic Frisbee Fun

  • Where: Akard True Value Hardware & Rentals, 25 Boone Village

Kids of all ages can make your own unique and colorful Frisbee with your friends at Akard True Value to celebrate Zionsville Nature Play Days. Frisbees are free (limit one per person) and supplies are limited so come early and join the fun! In addition, enjoy our new inflatable obstacle course...and more!

Zionsville Nature Play Days: Recycling Superheroes

  • Where: Elm Street Green, 165 N. Elm Street
  • Ages: 6 - 8 years with adult

Join the Boone County Solid Waste Management District as we discover how to become recycling superheroes!  We’ll read the book Michael Recycle and then participate in a recycling relay race!

Listen to the funny story Bubble Trouble by Margaret Mahy and then test our bubble solutions outside. We will see what kind of bubbles you can make with fun items in nature or the recycle bin.

Zionsville Nature Play Days: Mandala Sidewalk Painting

Set your creativity free by designing and painting colorful outdoor sidewalk mandalas!  Themes such as nature, geometric shapes, animals and more!   Let your imagination soar while creating beautiful public art for all to enjoy!

Explore nature with this family friendly scavenger hunt. Pick up your clue card at the Zion Nature Center. Finish the hunt to claim a prize.

Summer days are filled with frog songs. Join Park Naturalist, Mindy Murdock, as we discover who croaks, peeps and ker-plunks in our Indiana ponds and streams.

Monarch Watch 

Explore the fascinating life of a monarch butterfly. Discover how you can help scientists collect data as part of the Monarch Larva Monitoring Project. We will learn how to identify monarch eggs, caterpillars and milkweed. Learn what it takes to set up a Monarch habitat in your backyard.
