Message from Mayor Emily Styron

Styron

Perseverance. This year may be remembered most by what we have endured… but outside of the events and issues that dominate our news, we continue to persist in spite of these challenges. Thank you for supporting our local businesses. Even as the state moves into “Stage 5” with regard to its COVID response, social distancing and capacity restrictions remain in the Governor’s orders, as well the mandate to wear masks indoors. Your support of our local economy is as vital today as it was a month ago.

As a parent with two kids in our ZCS system, I am grateful every day for the incredible work undertaken at every level in our school administration/operations. Thank you… teachers, bus drivers, safety officers, custodians, cafeteria workers, counselors, aides, coaches, advisors, technology and administrative staff, administrators, parents and students!

And for those of us working in your local government, we continue to leverage every opportunity available to us to move initiatives forward in our community. In October we are marching ahead with the Zionsville Gateway Area (referred to as ZGA) plan. We need a fresh start to the gateway to the historic Village Business District and to reimagine what residents and visitors see when they enter into our town. We invite you to be part of this process by attending the Listening Session on October 1 at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds. If you prefer to participate virtually, that opportunity will be available also. Follow along on our website here. Also in October, we’re launching the Community Conversations series – a response to a collective call for action to help our community become more inclusive and equitable toward all people. October is proving to be a busy month with many opportunities for collaboration. We look forward to working alongside you.

Please make sure you have a plan to vote this fall. If are not yet registered, you have until October 5 to get this accomplished. If you are unsure of your voting status, you can review this information here
