Fire Prevention
The mission of the Fire Prevention Division is to reduce preventable fires and injuries in Zionsville. The primary functions of the division are:
- Code enforcement
- Education programs
- Fire investigations
The division takes a collaborative, educational approach to accomplish our mission of community risk reduction. The majority of Zionsville’s building and business owners share our goal of preventing unnecessary injuries and property loss and are active partners in maintaining a safe environment for residents and visitors.

Services
- New construction is reviewed and inspected in conjunction with other Town departments for code compliance and to ensure our front-line crews have adequate access to respond to emergencies.
- All commercial buildings and businesses are inspected at least annually for code compliance.
- Educational outreach that monitors fire and injury trends and adapts our programs to address them.
- Investigating fires to determine where they originated and the cause.
- Managing preplan data so our front-line crews have access to the information during emergency responses for more effective mitigation.
